DESIGNFREO ON LOCATION 22: WHISPERING SMITH / JOONDANNA MICRO-COMMUNITY
One block, three homes. When the Joondanna micro-community came onto our radar, we leapt at the opportunity to show you something we love – quality suburban infill.
At the front sits Caterina’s House, a refurbished 1940s character home that’s already occupied. Behind it are two new, semi-detached townhouses designed by Whispering Smith Architects.

The project is a case study in adding density in established suburbs while preserving local character and tree canopy. It’s a model Whispering Smith’s sustainable development arm, New Resident, is championing, on projects like Giuseppe’s House in Beaconsfield (DesignFreo On Location 20).
The townhouses share Giuseppe’s contemporary design DNA – light-filled interiors, warm cork floor tiles, beautiful joinery, a rich colour palette, and breezy indoor/outdoor connectivity to landscaped courtyards.

And as first to see it, you may leave with a new home – the townhouses hit the market soon!
