SPECIAL EVENT: CULTIVATED X MARK TUCKEY
Can you tell an authentic Hans Wegner from a replica? Will your next table have a digital passport?
We’re heading out of the ‘hood again for this special event. Join us over drinks in a zero-waste, pop-up showroom for an engaging deep dive into the life – and sometimes, near-death – of high-quality, beautifully designed furniture.
Joshua Ellis is brand manager at Cultivated, a company creating a sustainable, circular economy for authentic furniture and lighting. Cultivated works with Australian manufacturers and craftspeople to restore, reinvigorate or recycle original pieces by some of the world’s most iconic designers. Learn more, and hear hair-raising tales of furniture rescued in the nick of time from death by skip bin!
David Schofield has spent almost three decades at Australian furniture maker Mark Tuckey and there’s not much he doesn’t know about working with timber. Hear how Mark Tuckey’s simple, minimalist designs are made by hand in Melbourne using recycled and sustainably managed materials. There’s a story behind each piece, and as native timbers become harder to source, these pieces become even more special.
Ren Tapley from Foolscap Studio will be on hand to tell us about the showroom’s clever design using salvaged materials and fabric overruns.
Your ticket includes drinks, nibbles and chats with other design lovers.
